Hourly pattern measured from 1,230 real posts Geograph tracked in this category, overlaid with published research (Syften, Upvote.net and Max Candocia's Reddit studies). Each hour is ranked by how active the following three hours are, so you post just before your audience is busiest and your post has time to collect early votes.

What this tool does

Shows the best hours and days to post in a type of subreddit, converted to your time zone, as a list of top windows and a heatmap of the whole week.

The hourly pattern is measured from real posts Geograph tracks in each category, overlaid with published research. Each hour is ranked by how active the next three hours are, because a post made just before the audience is busiest collects early votes before it has to compete with everything posted at the peak.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to post on Reddit?

It depends on the subreddit's audience, which is why the tool works by category. For many communities it is weekday mornings in US time, but check the windows for yours.

Where does the data come from?

The hourly pattern is measured from real posts Geograph tracks in each category. It is overlaid with published research: Syften's 2026 study of 3 million posts and comments, Upvote.net's 2026 study of 1,000 top posts, and Max Candocia's study of what makes posts score well. We rank each hour by the activity just after it, so you post ahead of the busiest time rather than into it. The day-of-week weighting follows that research, including rating weekend mornings higher, rather than our own measurements.

Does posting time matter more than the post itself?

No. A useful post at a quiet hour beats a weak one at peak time. Timing helps a good post get its first votes and comments before it drops off the new queue.

Is it free?

Yes it's free. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to us.
